Hi lovelies! I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s day and a fantastic weekend! Today, I decided to give you a sneak pic into my life. *I figured, you need to know that I am a normal human being who likes to have fun and what not. Haha!*
On Valentine’s Day, my husband was a total sweetheart and sent these beautiful roses to my work.
And what I loved the most is the balloon that was attached to them!
HOW CUTE! Right?!?!
Anyhow, I was a horrible wife. And I must admit, I failed at coming up with an idea for a gift. Yup, that’s pretty bad considering that it was out first ‘married’ Valentine’s day and I DID NOT get him a gift… Okay, okay, I made these delicious mini cheesecakes at least… on Wednesday!!! Yup, total failure and there is no way around it! *But keep on reading! As you know, there’s always hope when there is desire! Haha!*
On Saturday, we went to the Light the Night fundraiser, a Leukemia & Lymphoma Society event designed to raise funds for a lifesaving blood cancer research.
My family-in-law has two very close friends whose children beat the cancer’s a$$. *If you’re interested, you can always support the cause by sponsoring one *or both* of these teams: Alyssa’s Crew or TOM THE BOMB!*
It was definitely touching to hear the survivors speak about their battle with cancer. I can’t imagine how these children have so much courage and strength to face a decease that doesn’t give a chance at life to many… It was heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time! And the food was delicious!
Also, there was a silent auction. *Please bare with me here, it’s important!* I NEVER thought they were fun, but then… I SAW AN OPPORTUNITY!
You see, my hubby is a BIG soccer fan and he is Italian, and there was a sports memorabilia frame with a glove of Gianluigi Buffon, a great Italian goalkeeper.
That’s where the evening got SUPER STRESSFUL! The room was full of roaming soccer fans, and I…. I DARED to overbid someone else. Of course, I knew that that someone else was going to come back about 5 minutes before the end of the auction, so I had to use a woman’s persuasion. Here is a quick overview of my speech: “Oh hi! Please, tell me you’re not interested in soccer, there is so much of hockey memorabilia!…Can I somehow hide this bidding sheet? Oh, no? Okay… Hey guys, can you please block this table for me?…Are you the guy who bid before me? Oh no! Please, don’t overbid me! PLEAAAAASE! I bid on this for my husband, who is a HUGEEEE fan of Buffon. Please, don’t bid! We’re newlyweds… We just got married last August… And… I… I… I didn’t get him a gift for our FIRST married Valentine’s day.. PLEASE, DO NOT BID, this is my last chance to get it right!”
And, it worked!!! IT WORKED SOMEHOW! I got my hubby a gift, a day later, but I did! *Please, DO NOT leave shopping for gifts till the very last moment. Especially, during your first year of getting married. It’s a bad BAD idea! Haha!*
And here is a picture of our fast growing beauty.
For today’s workout, I decided to switch it up and do this 45-minute HIIT & total body toning Tabata workout. Just because… I FEEL IN LOVE with Tabata!
Have you ever participated in a silent auction? What was your experience? Have you ever had to really beg someone to get what you want?
xoxo

Aw, you did great with the gift! I love the roses you got, they look beautiful in that bowl 🙂
Thank you darling! xoxo
Cute story! I find that it is so hard to buy Valentine’s gifts for guys. I always have a hard time coming up with a “good” idea! Your gift was perfect!
Thank you, Meranda! This year I learnt a valuable lesson to keep track of ideas all year round haha! 😀 xoxo
My wife forgets too … but that’s okay … she’s pretty awesome anyway … and I suspect your husband thinks the same of you too 🙂
Nevertheless … you did end up getting him something he likes … so still a win!
Awww! You’re so nice! Thank you for making me feel better! xoxo
Don’t fret too much – one of the gifts I most appreciate from my wife is the gift of her love. Sometimes it is hard to make the time to go out and get something, but I love getting the smile when she (my wife of 28 years) opens her chocs/wine and /shares/. And, sometimes it is worth the wait for something fantastic a little late. Wow – what a gift you gave to him, and also what a gift you gave to the charity – are these young survivors so inspiring? By the way, how did it make you feel when you saw the smile and joy when you gave him the glove? Keep that feeling going. Have an awesome day.
To be honest, I think he wanted to kill me the very first moment 😀 And only THEN he was happy! But as you said, I killed 2 birds with 1 stone: made my hubby happy & donated money for a great cause. As for the survivors, you have no idea, I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. xoxo
What a great gift, even though I am sure it was stressful! You and your husband looked wonderful at your event!
Thank you Sara! You’re so kind ❤ xoxo
My husband isn’t big on gifts so I will usually write him a love letter instead. He keeps all of them so I guess it is a success! 🙂 Y’all looked great at your event!
Michelle, it’s such a great idea! I was used to write my hubby random letters, but somehow I forgot all about it. I have to restart the tradition. Thank you! xoxo
Wow you got lucky on that gift! But that is really good gift, and the flowers were so awesome!
I know right? Thank you, Alicia! xoxo
LOL That’s so great! Good job on getting the memorabilia for your husband! My husband doesn’t believe we need to get each other anything for Valentine’s or birthdays or even for our anniversary! According to him we don’t need to celebrate either. He says, “We love each other. Why do we have to show it by doing or giving something special?” I always fight to celebrate but this year I forgot about Valentine’s Day because I had to accept that we’re just not romantic. The occasion was overshadowed by news of his new job interview anyway. We were all walking on clouds the whole weekend because of it. hehe
Congrats! I hope he gets it! xoxo
I participated in a silent auction when I was in high school, but I missed the point…..I thought we were supposed to write down what we thought the actual price of the items were, so I “guessed” on a few! My dad ended up having to pay for a turkey fryer and a big wall mirror! Haha!
Ahaha! This is hilarious! xoxo
