Guys! I did it! I ran my first 8-miler yesterday!!!
I know, it might sound like not a lot, but I am proud of my accomplishment. I was a bit worried after my last tough 4 mile run last week, so I took it easy and ran 8.16 miles in 1 hour and 20 minutes. To my surprise, it wasn’t as bad as I thought. Here is my somewhat surprised, tired and proud face. Haha!
At some point of the day, I got a little nervous though. It was another busy day at work and I felt tired and ready to hit my bed. But then I thought of yesterday’s post and the importance of acting energetic… and ummmm… well… I got myself a bottle of Vitamin water… There! Guilty as charged!
I know, I know! I am a bad girl, and that stuff is really not good for you. But you gotta do what you have to do, right? Haha!
There are actually other ways to recharge your batteries while at work that do not involve drinking stuff you shouldn’t be drinking. According to Live Strong, the following are 7 power foods you could have at work to beat the slump:
- Walnuts and almonds.
- Low-fat diary.
- Avocado and olive oil.
- Hard boiled egg.
- Dark chocolate.
- Citrus fruits.
Also it is very important not to skip breakfast, eat well-balanced lunch, get proper sleep, and avoid sweets to prevent midday sugar crushes.
Today is my active rest day. I will try out the following 10-posture yoga sequence from PopSugar. Here is an instruction from the website: Move through each pose, holding for five breaths, and then repeat on the other side. *Not sure I’ll be able to do the last pose though! LOL!* Also, don’t forget the Spartan 30 push ups for 30 days challenge: Day 3!
What achievements are you proud of? How do you maintain your energy levels at work?

Congratulations. That is an awesome accomplishment and something you should of course be proud of. I like the foods for energy. Something we can all use I am sure.
Thank you, Sarah! xoxo
Running those 8 miles is awesome and you did it in great time too! I am always proud of the mileage I put in. It’s like my accomplishment of the day. But then after I run I’m usually too tired to do anything else….lol
Haha! Believe me, I barely made those 30 push ups afterwords 🙂 Thank you for your kind words, Meranda! xoxo
Girl, 8 miles is awesome! Never ever say it isn’t a lot or sell your accomplishments short – we can only do what are bodies are ready for in that moment, and I couldn’t do 8 miles today. You rock for pushing your body to a new limit and doing!
Love this yoga routine – this is what I’ll be doing!
Go Olena! 8 miles is awesome. Enjoy a much deserved rest day 🙂
Yay! Thank you, darling! xoxo
yay, congrats on your first 8 miler! That’s a super big deal, I remember when I first started doing longer runs and feeling so accomplished. I wouldn’t feel bad about the vitamin water, the only thing “bad” is that it has a little extra sugar.
Thank you so much! My second one is coming up on Sunday, I’m curious to see how I’ll feel 🙂 xoxo
Woo-hoo!!! Congrats on your first 8-miler! Such an accomplishment for your mind AND body 🙂 Enjoy your active rest day.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for stopping by!
I absolutely LOVE all of the yoga poses (I’m such a yogi) and yes, phenomenal 8 miles!! Always be proud!! We all have different goals and dreams so every one of yours counts!! WOOHOO!! Nice job again! You’re awesome!!
Haha Kristin! You’re so energetic! Thank you so much for your sweet words. xoxo
Haha, you’re welcome!!
Congrats girl! You rock! 8 miles is a lot- don’t diminish it 🙂 PS I love that you’re in Montreal and your bottle is in French. When I visited Montreal for the first time, I probably took 100 pics of random signs, labels, etc. just because it was in French. I’m a dork!
Haha! That’s too funny 😀 My bottle is actually bilingual, the English was on the other side. I guess living in Quebec makes you indifferent to the language you use haha! After a while, you don’t even realize which language you’re speaking 😀 xoxo
That’s so amazing! I’m completely jealous!!! 😀
This is awesome!!! First an 8-miler and then a marathon!! Woo hoo!
I told you, you motivate me. I would have never even considered running a marathon before. Now it’s in my thoughts haha!
congrats! i remembered my first 5-miler, that felt like such a big accomplishment! I maintain that a mile is a mile, no matter how fast/slow or fun/challenging! Kudos!
Thank you so much! xoxo
Thank you! 😀 xoxo
Holy mil! Heck yeah you should be excited about your 1st 8 miler, that’s awesome, congrats!
Today is an off day for me and I NEEEDDDD to do some of those yoga moves fo sho!
Thank you sooo much! Also thanks for stopping by here ❤ xoxo
Holy cow! That yoga woman is flexible!! But, then, so are you. I’ve always wanted to be able to do the splits. What’s standing in my way? Pushing myself to do daily stretches to increase my flexibility. 😉 When I took taekwon-do I got close to being able to do the splits but then I stopped and lost all that hard work.
I definitely need to do those yoga moves though!
OMG! Over 8 miles in 1:20?! That’s only 10min longer than my 10k time. lol Good job!
I love walnuts and almonds! Nuts also include my power foods list.
Oh! Walnuts are amazing, indeed. Thanks for stopping by! xoxo
